Well, I don't have this to store dishes, I have this for items necessary for creativity. What appealed to me was the amplification of the sound since I listen to music while painting. It has enough room for most tall items to fit in the larger compartment and shorter items in the front. Of course, it can be used for kitchen, cosmetic or work supplies. The aqua inner basket slides out for easy cleaning. There are tiny holes in it. The groove that the phone fits in has a cover that needs to be removed. Then place the phone in the groove with the speaker pointing into the groove. Audio amplification ranges from 10% to 25% depending on the song and the quality of the original track you have. It adds some bass but takes away some of the highs. The sound comes out of two slots on the sides. The base also disassembles for easy cleaning. Gain is better when you don't have external noise like heat or a running fan. I could also use my tablet. You just have to place it with the speaker facing the groove. It doesn't look like a real amp, but it just boosts the volume a bit. It has good workmanship, is well made and light. Silver gray with sea green is a beautiful combination that suits my interior.
