Let's start with the positives, this thing survived being thrown into my stage box of various items by the stage crew from across the stage, four acts of bullying and countless falls . and goes to the studio. In short, I'm terrible with this type of gear at the end of a day in the studio or after a gig, so it's not the device. To be honest I figured it would take a direct hit from an 18 wheel. Unfortunately a good hit with the side of my cello case as I rolled over and broke the spot where the holder attaches to the anchor and never held a tablet again. Aside from being built like a Death Star with only one weakness, it has other advantages as well. Once you fix it where you want it, love, money, and nukes can't move it. The holder I had before slipped out of position while I was playing or recording. It has nice metal screws that go into metal threads, I used wrenches on this thing and it didn't strip the threads or screws. Star deducted because I found it very awkward to position, it seemed like I would never "just get it perfect". ' without another corner slip before final tightening. To be honest, playing the cello on the iPad to my music didn't work out so well either. I use it for soundtracks and effects triggers, I had to change my body position too much to work with the tablet right in front of me at the time of payment. Singers or other instrumentalists may not have this problem, but I had a cello so it wouldn't interfere with the touchscreen. Once installed I didn't want to move it or store it elsewhere in the studio as it was prone to accidents with anyone's instruments in my studio. It worked well when in place, but was awkward getting it on the music stand. The ideal position where I can connect and set up effects pedals, mixer, synth and cello in less than 15 minutes makes every second stress-free. If you have time to carefully position it every time you attach it to the stand, or have a safe corner where it won't accidentally bang against the side, it will wobble. The stage performance is like this, something works, something doesn't; Some can take violence, some can't. Some of my gigs just don't allow me to get all my gear ready, half the time my stuff is taken from the truck to the stage in 15 minutes and back to the truck 15 minutes after the show. In such a situation, there is not much time to be careful or to disassemble the equipment. A $50 tablet holder typically loses out against $1,000 tools and electronics.
