I've had an HP laptop and HP docking station kit since day one that I use with two external monitors (and some other peripherals) in my home office Pandemic. In preparing for an anticipated hybrid work environment, I was looking for an affordable and efficient docking station to use on those days when I'm in the office. So far this device is PERFECT. I was mainly looking for something that could power a pair of high-resolution external monitors from a USB 3.0 port. I'll probably use its ethernet jack and a couple of USB ports (none of which I've tried yet), but I was most interested in a quick plug-and-play solution for my two monitors. As other reviews have pointed out, connecting this device to my laptop and two monitors couldn't be easier. I had to use Windows settings to change the orientation and adjust the resolution of the monitors, both of which are connected via two HDMI ports, but that's about it. It really was plug and play. So far I haven't noticed any excessive heat generation from the device as some other users have mentioned in their reviews. The material is either very strong plastic or possibly metal. I really can't tell. Either way, I'm not worried about it tearing or breaking when I travel with it in my work bag. The box it comes in can easily be used as a travel bag. The only thing that's kind of unfortunate is that the USB cable that connects the device to my laptop is only about six inches long, and the device itself isn't powered. However, I was aware of this when I bought it and reluctantly accepted it as a compromise to keep the price affordable. My laptop battery seems to be draining faster than usual, but all the other benefits outweigh this minor inconvenience. I would highly recommend this product to anyone like me who is looking for an affordable and reliable device that will allow you to connect external monitors. to a laptop, especially when the lack of power is less important.
