Virtually unsuitable for TIG welding thin sheet metal. With a fresh battery, flip the helmet's switch to "Weld" and the sensitivity goes all the way up, but I still get flashes from time to time when the auto tint turns off. Welding was done indoors with a flashlight overhead. It looks like anything thinner than 16 gauge would be a problem, like a thin wall motorcycle exhaust etc. The build quality of the helmet is there, but the optical auto-sensing is fine. Works great for MIG and flux cored wire.
