Ever since I got my operator's license I've heard many radio amateurs discuss this and similar antennas. I went and bought it and have no regrets. An excellent addition to any HT. Use it on Tenway UV-5R Pro. With a high transmit setting of 8W and some gain on the antenna itself it works great. Strike high-end repeaters (and high-rise repeaters) from over 35 miles away. One I'd estimate at 40 miles, but that's from the top of the mountain to the tower at the top of the mountain. The only downside is that it's not the easiest to carry around. Works great in my vest, mole etc but very difficult to use in a car, truck etc. Therefore, you also need to be careful about where you place the charger. I am not in favor of removing the antenna just to store and/or charge the radio. In short, I would buy it again.
