poor fit and adhesive doesn't hold

I knew it was plastic when I ordered it but it was too wide so I had to compress it to fit. The tape on the inside lasted about a month, loose on the left side. I tried to bend it back but didn't stay. took it off to try gorilla glue but the chrome crumpled under the bend on removal. back late. It looked really good but was afraid of maybe spending more money on the same issue.
