Good for beginners but hit or miss

This is my first time using resin so I decided to start with it because it's affordable and you get a lot. It's good for beginners, it's a 1:1 ratio, so it's very easy to measure. The hardener is very thin and the resin is very thick. I blended them together until there were no white streaks left. Perfect the first time. But my problem that I keep encountering is that this resin is unreliable. Very hit or miss. I mix it exactly the same every time, for the exact amount of time. Sometimes it heals and it's great, hard as stone. More often than others it does not set properly and becomes very sticky and soft. I've tried several things; Stir slower, stir longer, change places in the room, work faster, work slower—none of it seems to do anything. When I thought I had the perfect mix and all, it's still very sticky. This resin also gets tacky very quickly, in about 10 minutes, and it's very sticky so you accidentally have to work fast or it won't cure properly. I've found that once it hits that mark, no matter how well you stir or mix it, it doesn't set properly (hard). Due to the viscosity of this resin, there are many air bubbles and microbubbles in it. They are very difficult to get rid of as you have to constantly stir this resin to make it work properly. Overall I liked it a bit but now that I've become more experienced I don't think I'll buy it again.

Pros
  • Cast and cast
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
