Review on ๐ŸŽ’ Black Travelon Backpack - One Size Backpacks and Casual Daypacks for Travel by Steve Stone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect weekend or day package! The goalkeeper.

For my upcoming bus trip from Chicago to Albuquerque, I was looking for a backpack that met the following criteria: suitable for my 5ft height, yet roomy enough for the weekend, safe, good - designed. and can also be used as a day bag. This bag meets those criteria! Here's what I easily slip into this bag for my test pack: a small packing cube from Revain Basics containing a pair of jeans, a long sleeve jersey shirt, 2 pairs of socks and underwear, a bra and a kaftan; a light cube of Travelon toiletries (approx. 8 x 6 x 3 inches) containing deodorant, toothbrush and paste, a couple of prescriptions, a small pouch containing foundation, blush, mascara and lipstick, and another clear zip-lock pouch containing liquids (lotion, shampoo , hairspray, conditioner); my iPad in the tablet/laptop slot on the back of the main compartment; a small zippered pouch containing a spare charger, earphones, adapters, phone and battery cables; my knitting (for multitasking while looking at landscapes); Snacks (a small bag of nuts, a candy, an apple, some candy bars and a can of powdered drink which I like). All of this went into the main compartment. I put a couple of pens and a travel guide in the front flap pocket. My wallet, purse and phone all fit in a secure zippered side pocket, but they would also fit in a front pocket. That's a lot of things! A bit like a clown car trick. Fully loaded the bag still only weighed 11 pounds and didn't knock me over or make me look ridiculously overweight and with gear rattling! There is a zippered pocket on the underside of the top flap which I did not use, nor did I use the credit card and passport slots in the front flap pocket. This bag also has pen slots and a slim pocket that would fit my phone if I wanted to. My travel documents fit in well. My iPad easily fits vertically into the 9 1/2 inch wide internal slot in the main compartment, which is not padded but is larger to keep your tablet from falling over other items. The main compartment can be opened up to 11 1/2 inches at its widest point, so keep that in mind if you intend to use this bag for your laptop. The use of packing cubes kept order, leaving room in a wider base on each side to store snack bags or other small items. Also, let me dispel a common complaint that Travelon must have heard enough times to correct: the straps are fully adjustable. In fact, each bag can be shortened to just 18 inches or lengthened to as much as 32 inches from shoulder to waist. The straps are nicely padded and have breathable mesh, but the back of the bag is not. It appears to be heavily built. My wish list for making this bag perfect includes replacing the water bottle pocket with stretch mesh, adding a chest and/or waist strap, breathable mesh all over the back, using dual zippers at the top and flap openings at the front, and other interesting suggestions. Colours. Where's a good live red?! Finally, some commenters have derided the bag's size as unreasonable, apparently because they are tall people. Their size doesn't mean it's a bad bag, it just means they didn't read the specs to choose the right bag for their size. And look what I got into it! Once the bag has gone through the shaking process and has ridden a few more miles I will come back and comment on the durability. Happy trails!
