I regularly receive completely silent audio reports from repeaters 20 miles away on a Ft-60r HT (5W) with this antenna. Good quality components and coaxial cable must be used to assemble this antenna. The coaxial cable feels fragile, but it handles temperatures of 100 degrees and highway speeds of 75 miles per hour well. You must be careful not to pinch or kink the coaxial cable as you route it through the door seals to the roof of the car. I reinforced my cable by folding it in half and severing two 1.5" pieces of drinking straws and slipping them over the coax where I had a slight pinch. I carefully wrapped the straw reinforcement with thick electrical tape. It might be an exaggeration, but I'd rather be careful. .Of course, the results of your signal may vary depending on the topology, height of the repeater, etc. The antenna itself is a good thing.
