The best of many "Mag-Mounts "!

Of course it's better to drill a hole in the roof of my truck! Good performance in the last six months; I look forward to using it for a long time.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • A few little things

It will work fine if.

Nice antenna, but what's the point if the cable doesn't reach the front of America's most popular pickup truck, the F150 Stretch Cab. The cable will be 2 feet shorter if you run it right down the middle of the roof panel anyway. Diamond, how much does 2 feet of cable cost compared to a $50 antenna?!

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • Not sure

Excellent antenna. It's worth it!

Excellent antenna! I have this as well as a Nagoya UG-72 and that's what I use on my truck. In the densely populated area where I live, I can easily reach every repeater within a 30 mile radius. I'm a volunteer OEM in my area and also work with AUXCOM and SKYWARD so that reliability is much appreciated. All reports say a strong signal with clear sound and complete silence from my B-Tech UV-2501. I liked this antenna so much that I bought its brother MR77 for my Baofeng UV-82HP HT.

  • Very good price

I have to say this is a great little antenna

I have to say this is a great little antenna! Working with a local low level repeater, I found this antenna to match or even outperform the much larger 70cm antenna I was using. Also a solid copy on the edge of the cover. In fact, I removed the antenna element from the car to park in the garage and I still heard the repeater! That tells me Diamond used good coax cables and materials. The antenna feels well made and robust and has even survived a drive through a garage that is too low. I'm a…

A good basic dual band magazine release.

Works much better than the previous magnetic mount I used. I wish the cord was a little longer, but I managed. I went further down the valley floor than several of my local group using the same antenna so I must have a good antenna. The only thing that bothered me was that there were no assembly instructions on the box, but I managed. Suitable for short and medium range antennas. I plan on using it for a while and maybe installing a fender mount for the antenna at some point. Until then I have…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Useless features

Reliable antenna with excellent reception.

I was so impressed with the Diamond MR77 that I bought three years ago that I bought another one. I had no problem with the weather (sun, rain and snow) and it offers great reception on my SUV. I recently bought a second MR77 for our small car to replace a less expensive non-diamond magnetic mount antenna that failed when the magnet was separated. The height and large footprint of the SUV/truck improves reception significantly. This is a quality antenna that will last for years. I do not regret

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Zero

1 is good. On my setup (your may be different)

A bit pricey but worth it! This reading is going to be a bit technical, but bear with me. If you don't know the VSWR, a quick explanation: Below 2:1 is good. In my setup (your may be different) 2 meters has an SWR of 1.4 at 146MHz. 70 cm had an SWR of 1.7 at 446 MHz. Additional value came from experimenting with UHF frequencies covering GMRS with an SWR of 1.6 at 462.7MHz and 1.4 at 467.7MHz repeater input. So I tried that on the VHF side of the MURS frequencies and found that 151.8MHz is an…

  • Great for me

Very happy with this antenna.

I regularly receive completely silent audio reports from repeaters 20 miles away on a Ft-60r HT (5W) with this antenna. Good quality components and coaxial cable must be used to assemble this antenna. The coaxial cable feels fragile, but it handles temperatures of 100 degrees and highway speeds of 75 miles per hour well. You must be careful not to pinch or kink the coaxial cable as you route it through the door seals to the roof of the car. I reinforced my cable by folding it in half and…

Great for portability

My Tacoma only has 1 hole for the radio and button. I didn't want to fit an expensive large radio for limited trips around town. Bought a compact dual band BTECH mobile phone. Advertised as 10W and 20W. On the meter 8 watts low, 18 watts high, close enough to drive a local repeater. The additional cigarette lighter plug is disconnected. Need a high quality short dual band antenna with PL-259 and magnetic mount. This diamond is perfect for my needs. Well made and not as flashy as a giant dual…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
