, despite some things that could have been better. These garlands work well and are very pleasing to look at, especially when used in large numbers. I bought seven 2-packs spread across three different sources. All 14 units appear to be the same device type to me, except that the blue units have different mode settings than the multicolored units. Love the Twinkle setting on Multicolor and the blue lights seem to lack this mode, although the blue ones are still great. In the few weeks that they were on site, we had several cloudy and rainy days. who have not seen direct sunlight. However, 2-3 hours of display were enough for them. When fully exposed, some of them were still on after nine full hours! But some left a few hours earlier. This is either due to different levels of sunlight exposure, different AA size battery cells included in every NiMH device, or both. This has a very positive effect on these devices. The back of the solar panel is easily removed with four Phillips screws, revealing an AA NiMH rechargeable cell that is unsoldered and easily replaceable by the user. Good, because those cells don't last forever, and it would suck to throw the device away when the battery died, which it certainly will. which unfortunately are NOT wired. A smart person could probably fix this and improve battery life using three elements. I think 8-9 hours is enough. This time decreases as the battery cells age. Then a simple replacement will help. :-) One problem is that the device may not have low voltage protection, which greatly reduces the lifespan of the element. I believe that with a slight design change these devices could work with a single 18650 Li-ion cell and that would be an improvement. I will copy/paste this into all sources I have purchased from.
