I risked this blanket because I have a heat sensitive illness and always feel uncomfortable at night. Although I'm always hot, I really need the feel of a blanket and sheets have never been enough. I read the reviews on this blanket and decided to give it a try. I took it out of the box and took it to the office for my husband to touch. When I asked him to touch the "cold" side, he asked if I had just taken it out of the freezer (although it had actually just come out of an Amazon box). I washed it immediately, following the advice NOT to dry it. in the dryer. The cold side stayed cool to the touch. I sleep with it every night and it brings great relief. I recommend a simple tip: when you're not using it, turn the duvet inside out so the "cold" side is open - it seems to cool it down even more. I've been wearing this for a few weeks now and honestly can't believe how cool it feels. I don't quite get the science or the "how" - but I'll take it!
