For Winter Cycling - Safety and Survival

Much better than little hand warmers in boots. They fit well, stay in place and the heating powder doesn't leak. Speaking of which, I've had hand warmers that seeped fine charcoal-like powder into my gloves, very dirty. You can easily stick them on the palm of a glove or the top of a mitt, avoiding any awkward residue. The heat generated is oxygen dependent. I leave my 5 minutes on and then slip them into my winter cycling shoes. There isn't much air in there but they give me enough warmth to keep my piglets warm for hours. I would not use them in ventilated cycling shoes, open mesh gloves or mittens as they can get too hot. Everyone has different levels of thermoregulation, but if you've gotten to the point where your toes get uncomfortable while riding but your bike isn't ready for sorrel, they can weather the transitional weather.

Pros
  • Excellent All-Round Performance
Cons
  • Mostly Good, But...
