Review on πŸͺ’ Personna Twin Pivot Plus: Lubricated 50-Blade Pack (5 x 10) - Advanced Performance and Smooth Shaves by Kat Hernandez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

very happy first customer

I have been using Trac II razors since the late 1970's. In the mid to late 80's I bought a rubber grip which I particularly liked and which I have used ever since. Over time, Trac II razors became increasingly difficult to find. I recently gave up local stores and went online, eventually purchasing a set of five Personnas, 10 per pack. The review argued that the Personna was inferior to the Trac II. I am writing this review mainly to disagree with this statement. These blades look exactly like the Trac II and are likely made in the same factory on the same equipment to the same tolerances. It's likely that the quality of each blade (regardless of brand) will vary due to the need for regular maintenance on manufacturing facilities. Razors made just before service may be slightly duller than razors made just after service. I've only used half the pack so far and the quality seems to be the same as the more expensive Trac II. It's been too long since Gillette's patent expired to care where they put their Trac II razors to buy. They no doubt buy them from the same cheap Chinese factory as Personna, but charge a premium due to brand awareness. The life of the blades mostly depends on me lubricating them with petroleum jelly (or something similar) between uses to slow down rust. I've also recently found that applying soap before petroleum jelly (in other words, rinsing off shaving cream with more than just water) prolongs life. When it comes to quality, the brand doesn't matter.
