Review on BESNIN Levers Shifter Mountain Bicycle by Daniel Steele

8 Speed Shifter Works 7

I used these 3 x 8 shifters to replace my Schwinn 3 x 7 with hydraulic brakes. The Schwinn Al Comp comes with an integrated Shimano derailleur/brakes. I installed these Wake (Besnin) shifters at the same time I installed the TOOPRE kids' oil brakes. Can an 8 speed shifter be used with a 7 speed freewheel? Yes, yes you can. They end up with a zero click on one end (I voted high), but the indexing is close enough that it works great. There is an option to upgrade to an 8-speed cassette with a different wheel in the future. Switches aren't too difficult to set up if you're replacing something that's already aligned. The inner cable threads easily into the cable housing and is long enough for me to cut about 10 inches off the rear and maybe 20 inches off the front derailleur. My wheel size is 27.5 inches. Why error? There are glitches in the derailleur and brakes that prevent them from nesting snugly together. The plastic shifters and housings don't have the finished Shimano look. Those are functional switches, but I miss Shimano Rapid Fires.
