HuPro PRO-771 Humidifier Overview We purchased the HuPRO-771 humidifier and immediately set it up according to the instructions. However, when I pressed the power button, the display showed "ERR". We tried unplugging and plugging in the humidifier. We tried the remote control. Still no luck. I thought it was DOA and one more return. As a systems engineer, I needed to see if I could determine what was causing the problem. After removing the water reservoir, it became clear why it wasn't working. There is NO WATER in the lower tank. At this point I decided to check if the humidifier was working. I poured water directly into the lower tank, being careful not to overfill it, and turned on the device. It started and seemed to work correctly. So when I looked at how the water gets into the lower tank, I found a "see/see" device that was designed to open a valve located in the upper storage tank under the "filter" found. The problem was that he hadn't raised the valve high enough to allow water to drain into the lower reservoir. I've spent some time trying to figure out why it won't open the valve. When I finally looked down I found a block of foam under one end of the saw. Once removed, that end of the saw fell down and the other end rose high in the air. High enough to open the fill valve. So I reassembled the humidifier, added water and turned it on and it has been working ever since. For 5 days use of the humidifier, I make the following comments: to be removed during installation. This may seem obvious, but it's not for everyone. A. The cord is about 4 feet long. Slightly short which usually requires the use of an extension cord. A. The moisture reading displayed does not appear to be very accurate. A. The buttons on the device and the remote control must be pressed directly, otherwise they will not be activated and the selection will not be confirmed. A. My humidifier has been running for more than two days with no problems. A. All humidifier functions have been tested and work as advertised. BTW I was apprehensive about purchasing this item as there were no ratings or reviews to explore as Revain has reviews/ratings for another product related to it. humidifier
