Maximizing the Drawbacks of Linear Switches

Review written using a "Crap Dell Keyboard" and this keyboard was dead on. Pressing this keyboard requires so little effort that you simply rest your fingers in anticipation of the next letter. Speaking of hub, this keyboard doesn't give any feedback that you've actually pressed a key, despite such a short travel distance. I now know that linear switches are designed not to give feedback and there are tactile or click options for that. The problem is that with a combination of minimal effort, minimal movement, and zero feedback, you end up hitting the keys you're leaning on based on the movement of your other fingers. If you have very small and light hands this keyboard might be great, but I can't imagine the average adult typing well on it. I can support 140160 wpm with 99-100% accuracy on almost any keyboard. With this keyboard, speeds over 100 wpm and 90% accuracy are a struggle. My absolute best speed in a very short test with it was 206 wpm. It probably took me 30 tries to get this as most of them ended in a catastrophic typo. In fact, I couldn't even score the test because I couldn't pass a simple 156 wpm challenge with captcha text due to typos. Anyone who calls these switches a gimmick is absolutely right. Good old Razer just pumps out stats to sell you. Also, I hope you always enjoy not only installing your software, but also keeping it running. Unless you have the Synapse 3.0 software installed and running, your keyboard will always default to Spectrum Cycle, also known as Rainbow Waves. They advertise "built-in memory" which it technically has, but unfortunately it doesn't even load the profile without synapse. Oh, and you must be signed in with an account to use the software. Yes, what a joke.TL;DR; Compositors will probably lose you 5-20% accuracy. Players, you will wonder if you pressed the right button and maybe the wrong buttons while relying on them. Imagine blinking or using your Ultimate in League of Legends because you yawned and the air hit your keys. (Exaggeration) If you don't like Rainbow Waves, you must install the software, sign up with an account, and keep the software running at all times.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Requires an AC outlet
