not quite what I expected

I have been using a beauty blender for many years. I like them, but over time I've noticed that the quality has gone down - after a month of use they start to leave little foam spots on my face - i.e. break down too quickly. Given that a great makeup brush costs $15-$40 and lasts ten years, I have a hard time paying $20 for a sponge that doesn't last a month. here for this product. Imagine my surprise when I unboxed it. It's huge! See photos next to the hourglass reversible brush. This ball on my face is huge so I only use it for bronzer. I use the pointed tip for the rest of the face. This sponge is too big to use precisely on the face. I understand it's listed for both face and body, but unless you have a huge face you can't avoid getting the product on your hairline, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. OK, so I used it once as a base. I LOVE the texture of the app. I think it fits better than BB to be honest. If it wasn't so big I might have liked it more. Then came the purge. I couldn't get makeup out. So I'm wondering what kind of microbes are staying there over time? I also noticed that it's a little torn after one use and one wash. See photo. I didn't take it hard. I didn't press. I haven't tried cutting. I washed it off with coconut oil liquid soap under the running water. Overall: I don't recommend it for the face. Body: maybe. But watch out for cleaning and be careful as it appears to be just as if not more delicate than BB.
