I bought 2 different sets of these hair clips - they are strong and big enough to hold my very thick hair, nice heavy feel. In the photos I have blow dried my hair but normally my hair is very curly and very thick. Beautiful - everything. Stretch? They are metal! They don't stretch or I don't understand the question. It's the same with "transparency" - no, you can't see through it, isn't that the point? Oh, surprisingly easy to close and open. Somehow they have become my favorite hair clips. I've bought so many that they break in the blink of an eye, but not this one. The one in the photo passed the 1-1/2 year "test". She pulls all the clips and barrettes out of my hair, even though she couldn't get them out. Hooray! Then I let them play. When she returned it to me later, it was like new. Nothing breaks, keeps hair good and beautiful. I can't recommend them enough! Worth every penny and more. It's not that they're expensive - I just couldn't decide which set I liked better, so I bought both and I'm very happy! I'm not psychic, but I think it's going to be a very, very long time, if not forever!
