If you are considering using a microphone with speaker for your HT (Handy Intercom), it is worth it. The Yaesu Vertx microphone is durable and submersible. I used it in the rain with no problems. The microphone with speaker allows you to clip the device to a jacket or radio belt next to your shoulder. You can hear and transmit incoming traffic by pressing the button and turning your head. Don't worry about your radio falling off while trying to hold onto it and get on with your work. Without a 2M cellular radio, I use my HT in the car and the speaker mic allows me to mount the radio on the passenger seat and keep talking.
