Good for the Price Good for Security and Surveillance

My brother has been installing home security systems, surveillance systems and other low voltage systems for 23 years. Although he says he wouldn't personally buy a cheap "kit" like this, with his professional approach he helped me install it, although I'm sure I could have done it myself. With his equipment, we were able to run cables out from under the windows, through the attic, and down through my bedroom wall. Cables exit the wall through a slotted wall plate to tidy it up. We chose the TV in the bedroom because if I ever hear anything unusual from outside, I can just change the input channel on the TV to see the video streams without having to get out of bed or turn on the interior lights. He also commended me for choosing a hardwired system over wireless because a wired system is more reliable, more secure (you can't hack a wired system), and requires less maintenance. A comparably sized professional system from its vendor at its price would range from $600 to $1200. I wasn't willing to shell out that much. The cameras in this Swann kit are made by Toshiba, who make some pretty decent electronics. My house is a one-storey house with an area of 1660 square meters. feet on the plate. It seemed like 60 feet of cable wouldn't be enough, but it was easy. The software part of the installation is a bit confusing, so I can only give 4 stars. A visit to the product manufacturer's website answered a few questions, but I had to dig around to find those answers. The video quality exceeded my expectations. Even night vision is very good and clear enough to spot a face from around 40 feet away. My brother (a pro) commended this system for what I paid for, although he said he prefers a wired "Power over Ethernet" camera system as these are all high quality commercial systems. It's still a good system. In the end, I'm happy with this Swann video surveillance system. The big question is how long will the components work without problems or failures?
