I like it but I don't like it.

When thinking about the difference between a tube and a semiconductor, save time by simply choosing SS. The Tube is rather nostalgic and because of that I really wanted to like this preamp. Whilst I really like this preamp and it is such good value for money if you own another current amp like Schiit, Creative, Topping, JDS etc then you really don't get anything more than having this preamp. The equalizer is amazing. It's so good that I ended up buying a JDS Subjective 3 so I can play around with my own EQ. Also, if you compare this unit to my G6, you can easily get the same sound by playing around with the free equalizer in the PEACE software. Since I have all these other amps, there's really no reason for me to keep this one. I believe even if you are looking for your first amp I would choose SS. I would choose it if you are looking for an amp for a specific purpose e.g. B. Listening to music through a record player or even headphones. If you need something more versatile I would definitely go to Solid State. UPDATE: If you're new to amps, DACs, and preamps, FYI, you'll need an amp and a DAC for everything to work properly. The preamp gives you your sound, but the sound source, in my case the computer, goes to the DAC. The DAC is then connected to the preamp. The preamplifier is then connected to the amplifier. If you only have an amp/preamp setup it might work depending on your configuration, but remember it doesn't have a headphone output. So if I just plug headphones into the amp, I only get the amp sound, not the preamp. even if they were related. Yes, it can be confusing.

Pros
  • This preamp improves the detail, transparency, immediacy, richness and tone of your music.
Cons
  • No mold required
