Absolute nonsense. Hopefully mine is just defective given the rave reviews but it took me too long to figure it out and now I can't return it. I've been soldering for decades and I know what I'm doing. The thing isn't heating up enough, or it's just getting too hot. I've ruined a couple of Xbox One/360 controllers, Sega game consoles that I've repaired because the solder doesn't melt properly and when it finally melts, the circuit board overheats, the components burn and the pads lift off. It doesn't matter what solder or flux I use, soldering with this thing is a joke unless you want to solder multiple wires with it - don't even try desoldering and repairing. I bought an orange for $15. Solder kit from Revain when I was on vacation fixing my brother's Xbox One controllers and I fixed 5 of them in the time it normally takes me to just screw up one controller with my Hakko at home. If you buy this and it doesn't seem to work and you're thinking "Maybe I just have the wrong settings or maybe I need a different tip or solder", just return/exchange it, it will , likely to be defective, like mine. Save yourself the headache and money spent buying new junk to replace the junk you messed up trying to make small repairs.
