Incredibly difficult label adhesive removal

What do you think? Adhesive is on the side of each holder and on the inside and outside of the ends. I've tried soaking, messing around, scratching, all to no avail. My husband suggested denatured alcohol which removed the glue with little effort. This is the worst, most annoying glue I've ever seen. Nobody will leave labels and nobody wants to spend 30 minutes trying to remove them. The holders seem good but I was so annoyed with taking the tags off I didn't even want them.
