Polyurethane In the Mattress Pad

So I liked them and bought 2 of these until I noticed that the pad itself was made of polyurethane. Polyurethane is a known chemical that can cause birth defects and lower your child's IQ. Because of this, I don't have a foam or fire retardant mattress, so I don't understand why Graco uses polyurethane in backpacks and games for babies and toddlers.
