Plug and Play. Plug in and connect to battery. I like the extra clamps that allow me to permanently connect a wire harness to a battery. If I then temporarily need a charger somewhere else, I can use the alligator clips on this battery. The charger has a non-reversible plug. Makes it stupid proof. Yes, it does get a bit warm when you first charge the battery (they do). When the battery is completely discharged, the device feels cold. March 26, 2021 --- Had to edit my review. The left unit is connected to my lawn mower in winter. In the spring I'm waiting for a serviced battery, ready to go. Went to start ----- died. So dead I thought the starter was bad or the wire was disconnected. Checked the wiring. Everything is OK. So I connected a Schumacher charger to the lawnmower. Charges 5 minutes. Bingo! Started straight away. Conclusion. The Mroinge charger and the battery holder are defective. If the company wants to fix this and send me a new working device I will change my rating. Otherwise I should say "stay away from it"
