My problem is aesthetic

I had no problem with the length (thickness of the countertop) that others had as this came with a threaded rod about 3 inches long. It's been long enough. Mine didn't leak and the discharge port was fine. The pump worked as advertised. My problem is the aesthetics of the base. This should match the faucets I bought but the surface mount base is cheaply made, can scratch the countertop and is a little ugly compared to the faucets. I fixed this by keeping the surface flange from the faucet syringe I replaced. Putting it under the soap dispenser flange made it look better. By the way, if you haven't heard this tip yet, throw the bottle away! These bottles leak, they are difficult to fill, they always leak, and when you fill them you inevitably overfill and end up with soap. Someone gave me this advice. Buy a tube that fits snugly over your pump's suction tube and make it long enough to reach a shelf in your sink cabinet. Open a half-gallon or gallon soap bottle and place the tube inside. The dispenser pulls it out, and with that much soap under the counter, it usually lasts about a year before being replaced.
