With over 100 aging camcorder tapes I wanted to convert them all to digital before they went bad. This device (which only weighs 4.2 ounces!) works great, but I have a few comments and recommendations that I'll list here. First, make sure you are using an appropriate USB storage device. It is best to use a file formatted for Windows NTFS as the ClearClick device creates a single file and does not split files for MSFAT formats. Two large (2TB or more) external hard drives may only work intermittently, likely because the storage process, speed, and power consumption are beyond ClearClick's capabilities. However, I am using a 1TB Sony SSD whose storage speed and low power consumption are perfect for the ClearClick converter. Third, the sizes of the converted files are really big. A two-hour tape from the HI8 camcorder occupies approximately 9 GB of disk space. Fourth, the ClearClick module saves video files in .mp4 format, which is ideal for later editing. different video aspect ratios, which is very useful for older camcorders (4:3). Sixth, I want ClearClick to produce a display screen that is similar to the less expensive devices the company sells. Finally, please note that the device is fully compatible with HDMI splitters, giving it the ability to capture TV shows and movies. Do not use the device to record protected broadcasts as recommended by the company. All in all, I highly recommend this product.
