This review is for the Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter Magnetic Socket, a low profile portable magnetic vent mount for smartphones. Not once did my large, heavy smartphone accidentally detach itself from the holder. The adhesive on the mount holds very well - clean the surface of the phone case before mounting. Cons: Doesn't always stay in place on the mount (the mount is designed to stick to its steel ball system, and the phone will sometimes adjust the angle itself while driving if you hit bumps). Where I installed it, this causes the power cord to put undue pressure on the phone's power connector (in this case, the bottom of the phone is against the dashboard). Note: Cannot be used as the middle part between the ball mount and the flat metal plate on the phone case. At first I just wanted to put a metal plate on top of my phone case - place it on top of the air vent attachment ball and let the magnet be the center piece holding everything together. However, the design of the mount ensures that the magnet is far enough away from the sticky side that it does not have sufficient magnetic properties on the sticky side. In hindsight I think this is a good thing as a strong magnetic field directly in front of your phone will likely interfere with the phone's various sensors and antennas.
