The good thing about this headset is that it fits your regular desk phone. I was looking for a headset for my old landline phone that I bought around 1990. The phone doesn't have a headphone jack but it works fine so I didn't want to buy a new phone. I finally found this headset that doesn't require a special plug. Most headsets require a built-in 2.5 or 3.5 jack on your phone, and available converters are only for specific phone brands. This headset uses a standard old-fashioned handset cord (technically known as an Rj9/RJ10/RJ22 or 4P4C, but you probably know it as the twisted-pair cable that connects the handset to your phone's base). The receiver is a stick that you pick up and put to your ear. To use this headset, simply pick up the handset from your phone by unplugging the coiled cord and plug this headset where the handset used to be: no special connectors required. It's a 'basic' headset with no fancy features, but for the price it's a very good deal. It consists of two parts. A piece of metal that curves over your head to hold the earpiece in place, and the earpiece itself with cords attached. The piece of metal snaps onto a plastic pin on the earcup (again, no special connectors needed, just snap in). If you're looking for a headset for a 'regular' old phone with no headphone jack, this might be for you. PS I wrote this review for using the headset with my old Sony home phone, circa 1990. I tried the headset. on my Avaya work phone after my 2 separate Plantronics headsets stopped working; on Avaya this doesn't work because you can hear well but not speak (the other person can't hear you). I still use the headset with my home phone and it suits me very well for this purpose. PSS I was made aware that this headset is for old school phones, "disabled" and not improved. (I have such a phone, so everything is fine.)
