This stand has made an incredible difference in my home office experience. I use a 15 inch Macbook Pro as my main work computer with a second monitor to simplify my workflow. I don't really do much computing, but I've noticed that my laptop likes to turn into a jet engine and power it. It's pretty hot sitting on my wooden table. I also noticed that my posture was absolutely disgusting as I had to look down to see the screen. from the strain on the neck during the working day. I bought this stand to improve the ergonomics of my work station and the cooling performance of my computer. This stand did both, plain and simple. I've been using it for a few days now and my computer hasn't reached full reactive power yet, so the fan must be doing something right. It's fairly quiet and moves a decent amount of air, so I have no complaints about that. ever fail, it looks like it would be very easy to replace just four bolts. means it would be easy to change the direction of the fan flow if you wish. I found no need for it. The stand is solid enough and appears to be well designed. Almost everything is aluminum except for the fan housing (although it has an almost identical finish - you wouldn't realize it's plastic until you touch it). The parts of the stand that come into contact with the computer are equipped with rubber/silicone pads to provide a secure grip and prevent your device from being scratched. I do not connect the standing fan to the USB port of the computer. Instead, I either used a battery pack or plugged it directly into the wall via a USB box. It works if you plug it into the computer itself, but I prefer to reserve the USB ports for other connections I might need. I would not recommend using this stand without an external keyboard and mouse. I suppose you could if you really wanted to, but the stand will bounce when you tap it and will likely move. It holds the computer perfectly, but it doesn't seem designed to support the weight of someone's hands resting on the computer. I feel like this would also negate the ergonomic benefits of using a laptop stand, but I guess to each their own. All in all I would recommend this stand to anyone using their laptop as a desktop. If you spend long hours at your computer, do yourself a favor and get this stand. After all, didn't you deserve it?
