This item was used to refurbish the Lazyboy executive office chair. The seat had a few cracks that had widened to the point that the leather or leather-like material had separated from the backrest. There were tears on the front of the seat, but they weren't very noticeable, and some wear spots on the armrests. The product was quite easy to use. Comes with instructions, a color chart for mixing and contact information should assistance be needed. The company even contacted me via email before the product arrived to let me know they were there to advise me and answer any questions I had regarding the use of the product. Before purchasing this product, the biggest complaint about other products of this type was that there was never enough of the right color for them. I'm assuming the people complaining were planning to upgrade their entire living room with a standard color tube. This is not the case with this product, I probably have enough left over to paint an entire chair a couple of times. Start by spraying the base color into a mixing cup, then add matching tint colors until the color matches. I got close on the first try, and by that I mean close enough to heal the damaged area before it turns into a crack. I used a spatula and, following the directions, started applying from the outer edges to the center of the damaged area first. Let dry and reapply. After the two layers were dry, I smoothed them down with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. I was happy with the color mix but felt it needed a shade of red that I didn't have in the brown set. No worries just had to fix it for sitting. I tried different cotton pads, balls, microfiber cloths for smoothing. A cotton swab works best. The more you smooth, the more layers are removed, and if you're a perfectionist, you'll end up taking off too much and finding that there's enough mixture left to apply another layer. This time, since the overhaul of this coat was complete, it was more for mixing. I tried using a plastic razor blade to apply it the same way you would use putty or drywall mud. Cover a large area in one clean motion. I was happy with the color match and finish, but there was a lot of paint left in the mixing cup so I tackled the cracked areas and armrests. At this point I was using the brush that came with it. The brush was easy to apply and quickly covered a much larger area as well as much more detail between stitches. There was a lot of paint left in the mixing cup so I reapplied it all. Then I smoothed it out with cotton and alcohol. Happy with the color match and finish I corrected every little detail I could find on the chair so I moved on to the final coat to finish what I had mixed. I could leave it at that, but the perfectionist in me always wanted more. As I smoothed the area outside of my correction target area, it loosened up and I tweaked it to create a new area that needed repair. Totally my fault I kept wiping with an alcohol swab to fuse the entire seat to the repaired area. I went back to the beginning, but this time I used my experience to make it quick. I started mixing the amount I needed with the tint color then I added the main color. In my case, I got closer to the color match faster by making the mixture darker instead of lightening the darkness like I did in the first batch. I used a putty knife from the outside in then a second coat with a putty knife to make it as smooth as possible. I didn't get too carried away with anti-aliasing and found it good enough. Not as good as the first mix, but you can't tell the chair has been refurbished unless you take a close look at your face. Verdict: $20 product, easy to use and customer service when needed. Target areas repaired, self-inflicted damage repaired. Many transverse cracks have been eliminated, armrests have been repaired. Looks almost new and I should have enough product left over to refurbish this old chair well past the cushions expected lifespan. I would buy this product again if my connection fails. I haven't touched chocolate or white tubes and almost what I used. I would recommend getting an all in one small repair kit just because I still feel like a shade of red would have done the trick.
