We've used Ross or TJMaxx sheets for years, because who wants to shell out $100 for a set of sheets? And you don't necessarily need the maximum number of threads. Fewer threads make the sheet lighter and more breathable, and it's more suitable for situations when you need something not too hot in summer. As far as "weaving" goes, I learned a little about the different ways they can weave yarn into a sheet. Percale has a strong, "crisp" cotton handle, while satin is a special weave that feels very "soft" to the touch due to the way it lets the threads through in the weave pattern. I like the sturdy look of percale, but I prefer satin for its softness. My strategy is to avoid unfamiliar brands of disposable sheets, choose a BRAND that sells a wide range of thread counts, and choose the right sheet within that range. I'm glad I found the Threadmill brand - they have a great range of sheets in different thread counts and weaves, as well as beautiful packaging and eco-friendly marketing. And they are not expensive at all. In the end I settled on a 300 thread count satin sheet. It's soft, light (I have a very warm blanket), a pleasant dark green color and inexpensive. It's just as nice and soft as other 600 TC reeds I've had. I highly recommend Threadmill.
