Simple Simon for air conditioners

Look I'm a nobody, I'm a 61 year old girl who lives upstairs in the attic with my cat Missy who is also a high school student. It is approximately 750 square meters with a door between the living room and the bedroom. We live in Northwest Washington, right on the Bay, where it's typically unbearably hot for just two weeks a year. None of the houses have air conditioning, they are old and air conditioning wasn't really needed. When we experienced the heat wave a few weeks ago, it was 106 degrees in my small attic. My cat got sick and I threw up and felt really bad. Now that I've heard that the weather is getting hotter in PNW, and not the exception, I figured it was time for an air conditioner. made a few comparison purchases and knew black and deck were reliable. My friend chose this unit based on my budget and the size of my space, and it was safe to use in this old house with outdated wiring. A/C. My handyman set it all up for me, set it up in my bedroom window. I don't pretend to understand the remote control, but I can understand enough. Basically, I just need to know how to set my desired temperature, switch it on and enjoy it. Dehumidifiers are already set. So I set it to 65 degrees (the temp in the house was 75) and went down for a while. When I came back I checked my little temp and it was 66 degrees! I'm very glad that my cat and I will be safe and comfortable when (not if) we get our next heat wave. As I said, I'm not a person, not an electrician, not a contractor, not a person who knows or doesn't give a damn about how electrical things work. All I know is that I can turn it on and cold air comes out. that's enough for me.
