Review on Sulky 88203 Iron Transfer Black Sewing by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to use design transfer tools

I needed to transfer a long handwritten design onto thick fabric so I bought these sulky pens. The four colors are beautiful and vibrant and come in a great plastic tube making them easy to store. However, I'm glad I checked the "smoothness" of the ink before I started transferring the design. These pens - I used the red one - make very sharp lines, but when ironed onto canvas the ink lines become THICK. Well this may or may not be what you are looking for depending on what stitch you want to use for your project. I found that the lines I ironed in my test could never be covered by my embroidery as I planned to use the crew's outline stitch for the handwritten saying. For example, if I want to use a reverse warp or woven stitch, these lines made with a sulky pen would be perfect. However, I had to resort to transfer pencils - not nearly as sharp as Salka's beautiful pen, but thin enough to cover my embroidery.

Pros
  • Finishing and embellishments
Cons
  • I will add later
