It has a strong odor at first. When it's on when water is added it doesn't emulsify at all. I had to wipe it several times with a rag to completely remove the oil stain. Also, it made my skin very dry. I've used the Burt's Bees oil cleanser, which I really liked, but it was the first and only oil cleanser I've tried, so I wanted to try a different product. The Palmers are so well respected here, but they just didn't fit me at all. I can't understand its popularity! Burt's is much better and much "cleaner" - no noticeable odor, easy to apply, removes makeup well, rinses off easily. That's everything Palmer isn't. It goes in the trash.
