Review on SeaClear Deluxe Hexagon Acrylic Aquarium by Angie Johnson

Expected a little more for the price

I have done A LOT of research on this product and the reviews have been mostly positive. However, after purchasing and setting it up, I have to say that for the $300 price point, I expected a lot more. ADVANTAGES Acrylic is very transparent; much more transparent than glass. It's also much lighter (I was able to pick it up myself). Temperatures seem to stay more stable instead of fluctuating like glass does. I like the lack of edges, looks more modern, clean, aesthetic VS. The light is a joke. It comes with a cheap thin black cap and you buy a fluorescent tube to match. I just put it aside and bought an LED bulb. I bought a Nicrew LED light. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ID3OK3S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. In moonlight mode I find it too bright and there is no dimming option. But the day mode is bright but not too bright. You can't fill up the tank because the center of the tank sags inward so much that it overflows before the water gets to the top! There are two holes at the top connected by a thin piece of acrylic. See pic. A VERY cheap piece of corrugated plastic covers this hole, and for the price I was expecting at least real acrylic, not plastic. See fig. To feed the fish you need to remove the lamp and this plastic cover. You can just turn the light back a bit but I'm afraid the light will fall into the tank and I'll get electrocuted so I put it away when I feed the fish. It's okay, but it would be better if the lid rose.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Negative experience
