We have fitted them (with 3M velcro) to the landings of our stairs and they are great. With small children around and no carpeted stairs, we needed lamps that would fit in landings but illuminate the stairs from both sides without blinding anyone on the stairs. It was ideal shapes and brightness. And they're tough - they've been knocked down the stairs a few times by crazy boys and their toys and they came through unscathed. I actually buy more for installing as under cabinet lights in the kitchen and to light up our back rooms. Highly recommended.
