Will not remove waterproof sunscreen or makeup completely. This would be good for a morning cleanse if you just want to cleanse your skin, but not for removing makeup or sunscreen yourself at the end of the day. It doesn't lather at all and feels exactly like applying lotion to the skin, so yes, it's gentle, but not necessarily effective. If you don't need to use such a mild cleanser due to sensitive skin, I would not recommend this cleanser. I will probably use it as a shaving cream because it makes the skin very soft.
