Toothpaste stained teeth

My husband just left the dentist and the dentist said the charcoal toothpaste was staining his teeth with black and dark gray stains all over and told him to throw it out. My husband left because he saw spots and thought he had tooth decay and he felt better that it was just spots. should return to the dentist for a deep cleaning to remove stains.
