Good first. The mount itself is metal I believe, it's definitely a lot more secure and durable than the mount that came with my Crutchfield HU and hence I'm giving it a 4 star rating. Now it's not so good. The black interior parts of my 2014 Tacoma are matte black while the surrounding parts are gloss black, just like the competition. I can live with that, although it's slightly scratched and shows dirt and wear more easily than Flat Black. And now the worst. I bought this primarily because the Metra mount that came with my HU Pioneer had a huge gap of 1/2" at best after installing it various ways. This scosche mount still has a gap at the very bottom of the HU, but still only about 1/4 inch. In Scosche's defense, perhaps that could be because the mounting points on this Pioneer DMH-1770NEX are different than what Pioneer has done in the past? Finally, if you have a Metra mount that came with your Crutchfield HU, would you buy it if you drive on any road surface except fresh asphalt. Of course, if you can live with your HU constantly vibrating in your dash, the Metra mount is fine. :-)
