My cameras are heavily shadowed by wildlife. So my battery life was maybe half a year instead of 2 years. I started looking at solar panels and then I realized they would suit me. There is a camera on the side of my garage and because it's 16 feet long I can plug it in in the garage and turn on the camera. Outside. Another camera is located at the back of the house next to a sliding glass door with an electrical outlet on the side of the house. Maybe someday (hopefully not) this camera will actually become a surveillance camera. That's why I love the fact that since I left the batteries in the camera, the camera still works if the offender turns it off! An important clue. I have aftermarket camera mounts that move the camera a few inches away from the wall. Standard mounts do not have enough space behind the camera to connect the power cord and point the camera down.
