I don't know why every '58 doesn't come with one. They provide excellent isolation from most shocks and can withstand the impact of mic stands. Except that their size might seem a bit intrusive on a mic stand for video purposes. I use a different model for my 57, KSM137 and SM81. It's better to deal with avoidable audio dips in the source than work endlessly on audio elimination in post. You're always missing something in a post when removing artifacts, so it's best to start with clean audio whenever possible. I have one of these for each of my Shure mics.
