I had a 1995 inline/roller skate - yes, 1995 - that finally broke the buckles this summer. They've had a good run (22 years!), but I digress. I don't roller blade often, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something out of the ordinary just to have some fun on the bike path next door. I wear a size 7 women's shoe and the size 6-9 skates are perfect for me and I don't need to get bigger. Maybe my old skates were too heavy, but these seemed unusually light. I suspect they would break fairly easily if I hit something (e.g. a curb or rock). They almost felt cheap. The brake took a while to get used to, it's a bit bigger than my old pair and it's on the opposite foot than I'm used to. I actually had to get my foot off the ground to touch the brake - not good for someone as uncoordinated as I am. After 10 minutes my foot started to cramp on the sole but I'm not sure if it was the skate or something else. I will say that my old skates never gave me cramps in my legs.
