I used this to dim one of those fine wire string lights and it works! (Polarity matters) Dimming is done electronically, so not only does the voltage across the LEDs drop, but their cycle time also changes. At very low levels you can see that they only light up for a fraction of a second (e.g. 1/1000s in a 1/60th second cycle) which means the dimmer is not just absorbing wasted energy. I expect my 33 foot LED string to draw less than half the watts dimmed by this dimmer (maybe I'll measure and report that). It's also nice to feel the grip.
