Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Efficient LED Recessed Lighting: Juno Lighting IC44N Downlight Unfinished by Brad Lovro

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Normal product but big and expensive.

This is a box for low voltage (12V) lighting fixtures (ie a 120V box with its own transformer to get 12V for a halogen or LED bulb). I bought and installed several of these and the corresponding non-IC (no isolation contact) version. I normally use Halo, but I needed this Juno box to match the specific fairing (Juno 449-WH) I was planning to use. You have to do what you have to do to get what you want, but I'll describe the differences anyway. This box is BIG. It's taller than similar Halo brand boxes - it needs more height. Compared to the non-IC version, the bulky body feels overdone, especially considering the lighting limitations of this device and the overlays that come with it. It can be shorter. While size should not be an issue for a typical floor/ceiling, carefully review available space and obstructions before ordering. In my case I had enough headroom between the ceiling and the floor joists above, but many of the passing ducts came close to destroying an installation site (the flex ducts had just enough play that I could move them just enough to get the box ) . in). It's easy to install, but not quite as easy as recent Halo offerings (though quite a bit). There are no quick connectors on the wires - you have to twist and wrap. You must use cable clamps or pluggable cable connectors with cutouts for cable entry (Halo has built-in clips that you simply slide the cable through). Good overall, just basic, not as well executed as Halo which is a shame. because the cost of this box is several times higher than that of the corresponding Halo product. But you must use a Juno if you want a Juno finish like the 449-WH. 1 star docked for being unremarkable compared to the competition and -1 for the incredible price.
