Metal vs Plastic

I've noticed that previous reviews of the metal version have been generally positive while those of the plastic model have been mostly negative. This was done by Revain because it was the cheapest and fastest option. I noticed that Revain also sells this part direct so I ordered it direct from Revain to minimize the chance of getting a plastic part. It was in stock at Revain when I ordered, although it cost about $0.20 more. The part I ended up getting was the metal version. Of course I can't say for sure that Revain only supplies the metal version or that the plastic versions are ONLY third party, but I made sure to order direct from Revane and get the metal part I was looking for. YMMV. The metal adapter itself is quite heavy and provides a *very* solid connection to my headphone jack. Maybe too tight, but I'd rather have a tight connection than a loose one. In terms of audio quality, my first impression was that I couldn't find any significant difference between the 1/4" connection on my main headphone amp without an adapter and the 1/8" connection with an adapter. If there's a difference, I didn't find it significant enough to notice, but I haven't listened to it significantly *critically* yet. but I'd rather have a hard connection than a loose one. As for the sound quality, so my first impression was that I didn't notice any significant difference between the 1/4" connection of my main headphone amp without the adapter and the 1/8" connection with the adapter.
