Sometimes you need something to warm your head. It does the job. I bought the white which is not pure white but more of a light cream/white (but more white than cream). Most people may not notice a non-pure white color. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to white, so that was a bit off for me, but it wasn't against the rules. I find that I have a medium sized head and it's a bit big for me because when I move my head over the pillow the hat slips off a little, not much but a little. As for softness, it's soft but not oily. It's not the most flattering look but in the end I can't complain as it gets the job done.
