I installed this bag on a 2014 BMW R1200GSA. In short, I love it and I'm glad I bought it! But I had questions about it that I didn't get answered until I got it. So I decided to write this for those who, like me, are wondering if (or how) this will work on an adventure bike that doesn't normally work. have a crossbar. From all the reviews here and elsewhere people are using this on all types of bikes so you know it can work. But I believe there are people who hesitate when trying to choose this bag. Because it's quite expensive given its rather limited size, and maybe that helps them! You can see this bag in most online videos. You will find that most users fill the bag with things they want to store inside and then tighten the straps to hold the bag in the correct position on the handlebars. This works especially if your steering wheel has a crossbar. And the straps on the bag hold it up well when you use it this way! Even without a crossbar! But what "I" wanted was a bag that would stay in place even when the straps aren't tight, because I wanted to be able to take things in and out without having to readjust the straps every time! And I also wanted the bag to ride over the body panel that covers the top of my gas tank, rather than resting on it and constantly rubbing that panel. And it seemed to me that if you only used straps the bag would most likely sag and rest on top of my gas tank. But if you look at the pictures you will see that there are little loops at each end. bags. In my case, I used thick zip ties to attach each of these loops to the handlebars. After that I installed the main straps and adjusted them the way I wanted. That was enough to keep the bag from hanging down and rubbing against the gas tank. I tried without the zip ties but had to tighten the main straps a lot more to keep the bag from dangling and when I did the bag touched the tank! But the way I ended up using it, with the zip ties doing most of the positioning, I was able to leave the main straps in such a way that the bag wasn't squeezing its contents tightly, but still hung over the tank without closing itself with the touch rods fully screwed in. On one side or the other! For me it was important. I often start skating in bright sunlight but don't come back until after dark! This meant that at dusk or when it started to rain I had to stop to take off and put my sunglasses away. Now I can put them in my pocket easily and quickly. For example at traffic lights or even while driving as long as you can do it safely (I'm not saying YOU have to do it! YOU have to stop completely before taking one out). or both hands off the handlebars). The attached photo shows the bag with the right side loop attached to my handlebars. Just got back from a 17 day 5,000 mile trip from Texas to Northern Montana and back. He sat perfectly the whole time. Most of the time I carried a small (tiny) bottle of Plexus, some eye drops, some hydration bags to mix with my water bottles, a bottle of aspirin, and a loosely folded microfiber cloth in my bag. At dusk I would add sunglasses. I also once put my Google Nexus 6P phone in there to route the charging cable from the USB port on the steering wheel. The Nexus 6P is a big smartphone. It only fits in with the zipper closed! I tried to pack in a hard case for sunglasses but it took up most of the bag. Case and phone would not fit at the same time. But I knew it was small when I bought it. I mention this to give people an idea of its size from a practical point of view. There is only one real problem with this bag in my opinion: it is NOT waterproof! The fabric itself appears to be waterproof, or at least fairly water-repellent. But the lightning that is at the top is not! If you ride an adventure bike with a windshield in light rain, this probably isn't a problem. I survived a few short showers and the bag stayed dry as the windscreen protected it from water while driving! But in a rainstorm or when you stop, the rain hits the zipper and LACKS into the bag. It rained a couple of times during the night and the next day the inside of the bag was damp. So plan accordingly. I knew that when I bought it. This has been mentioned in other reviews. But I thought it was worth repeating. But that's why I docked it as a star. It would be easy to add a flap to cover the zipper with maybe a few bits of velcro to hold it down and that would do it for all practical purposes. , waterproof.
