Compare VENTURE Brackets and Lippert Brackets

I have purchased replacement drive and powered bracket kits for the 5th VENTURE chassis. Note that the manufacturer does not put any lube on the outside of the inner leg that runs up and down the outer leg! The internal mount creates metal shavings and puts stress on the motor, bevel gears, bushings, drive screw and the nut that the drive screw goes through! Bought a new fifth wheel in early 2019 and camped about 20 times. The smaller vertical bevel gear was badly worn, but the horizontal gear looked fine. This happened with both legs. The VENTURE chassis had no bevel gear lubricators or threaded nuts. I decided to order a complete front mount with grease fittings from Revain, which was actually made by Lippert Components. The VENTURE legs are made for the Lippert company, but are vastly inferior to the real Lippert. This new Lippert forefoot with lubricating zircons really puts lube where it's needed. Both on the bevel gears and on the spindle nut. Also, the Lippert square tube is a bit smaller than the VENTURE inner tube, so it doesn't scratch as much, but it's much more wobbly than the VENTURE legs, and it doesn't smudge either! Here's one more thing. Bevel gears and drive nut are supplied pre-lubricated from the factory. BUT when you raise and lower the chassis for the first time, all of the grease is pushed out of the gears leaving a thin film on the gears. The grease that is squeezed out never gets back into the gears! In addition, grease applied to the drive nut and lead screw is completely expelled from the screw as it passes through the drive nut, leaving only a small film of grease on the screw. Lippert feet are superior in design to VENTURE feet. because of fat circuses! Lubricate them regularly! But they are shakier and there are no spare gears to convert a Lippert chassis. I tried to contact the VENTURE design engineer to discuss what I felt could be improved, but he never returned my call. Well, be careful buyers, especially when it comes to RVs. I kept the original VENTURE bearings and when the Lippert gears wear out I will overhaul the VENTURE bearings.
